Tea polyphenols, via oral intake, work miraculously in maintaining good health and fighting against the deterioration or aggravation of age-related or life-style-related malconditions to which we are all prone.

Candy That’s Good for You?

Detailed research shows that the antioxidant polyphenols from Green Tea lower LDL Cholesterol, a risk factor for coronary artery disease. In addition, they can induce enzymes in tissues such as the liver that help detoxify harmful chemicals, including carcinogens, and lower the risk of promoting chemicals in the overall process of abnormal cell growth. Tea polyphenons also decrease the rate of cell duplication of abnormal cells. There are also some indications that regular intake of Green Tea modifies the intestinal bacterial flora, enhancing the growth of beneficial bacteria and eliminating those with possibly harmful attributes.

Catechins Fight Dental Caries

Dental caries are caused primarily by bacteria which resides in the mouth and produces water-soluble and water-insoluble glucans from sucrose. The insoluble glucan sticks to the surface of the tooth, and this is the beginning of plaque formation. Tea polyphenols are anticarious in three ways:

  1. they inhibit the plaque forming enzyme
  2. they suppress the growth of bacteria, and
  3. they solidify the enamel.

Green Tea Candy May Improve Health of Gums

Polyphenon® from Mitsui Norin Group is the highest quality catechin product available anywhere.

A study in the European Journal of Medicine in which adults chewed green tea candies eight times a day, showed positive results in terms of reduced plaque formation and reduced inflammation of the gums. Radicals Reduced

Oxygen free radicals are inevitably generated in our body during the process of perspiration (metabolism) and are highly reactive with surrounding compounds. Not only do they react with lipids to produce degenerative lipid peroxides, but they also attack DNA or other organic constituents to induce various oxidative damage. These reactions in the body are considered to be one of the irreversible causes of various diseases and aging.

The polyphenolic components of tea have been found to be extremely effective, and in some cases, even fatal against various strains of foodborne pathogenic bacteria.
