BUSINESS ADVISORS
Kelly DeKeyser – Kelly is a private investor and board director for early stage healthcare and technology companies through his Connecticut firm, Simsbury Capital (www.simsburycapital.com). He serves as a Director for Health Plan One, Inc., an on-line health insurance marketplace and Pro Health Physicians, the largest physician medical group in Connecticut. Kelly DeKeyser has over 20 years of health care industry experience in both public and private equity backed operations.
Dr. Robert T. Garvin – A pioneer of the Canadian biotechnology industry, Bob has more than 25 years of experience in commercializing bioscientific discovery. The companies he helped establish, Cangene and GeneScape for example, generally worked in the cross-section between chemical attribute and biological activity, and Bob's role was to help negotiate the pathway between chemistry, biology, and economics as scientific breakthroughs became commercial products.
Charlie Hinkaty – Mr. Charles Hinkaty recently retired as the
President and Chief Executive Officer of Del Laboratories, NY, a well
known OTC drug company. Mr. Hinkaty joined Del in 1985 as President of
Commerce Drug Company (now Del Pharmaceuticals, Inc.). He was elected
to the Board of Directors in 1986 and is a member of the Executive
Committee. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Hinkaty was a Vice
President at Citibank, before which he spent 12 years at Bristol-Myers
in a variety of marketing and general management positions.
Tony Johnston – Mr. Johnston is President & CEO of Compass North Inc., a management and advisory firm specializing in executive support services for growth oriented companies. Tony is a corporate finance and management expert with a CGA accounting designation and experience in co-founding a functional-genomics company, and CEO or CFO positions with private and public companies in manufacturing, technology, biotechnology, finance and commercial banking.
David Pinto – Mr. Pinto’s name is synonymous with the chain drug store industry. For over 40 years, David has been at the forefront of tracking, forecasting, and reporting on industry developments. In 1978, Mr. Pinto co-founded CHAIN DRUG REVIEW, the first and only newspaper created specifically to report on the chain drug industry. It has become the most successful publication serving chain drug store retailing.
Bill Reynolds – Bill has over 30 years experience in the natural products industry, with active involvement in regulatory affairs, marketing, product development and strategic planning. He was the Executive Director of the Canadian Health Food Association, and has had key roles in five Canadian manufacturers and importers both in Canada and abroad.
SCIENTIFIC ADVISORS
Peter Pekos – Peter is President and CEO of Dalton Pharma Services, Toronto, ON, a privately owned Canadian pharmaceutical services provider to leading pharmaceutical companies. Dalton provides contract research and manufacturing services that help companies accelerate their drug discovery and development programs. Dalton offers ‘one stop shopping’ for the discovery and manufacture of innovative drug molecules, custom peptides and oligonucleotides from research through Phase I, II and III, and up to commercial production.
Dr. Frank Greenway – As a faculty member at the Pennington BioMedical Research Center, Baton Rouge, LA, Dr. Greenway has researched clinical applications of Neuragen, and is working to identify related active compounds. Dr. Greenway graduated from Stanford University and UCLA Medical School. He did an internship, residency in internal medicine, chief residency and fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism all at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Greenway was in the private practice of internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism in California from 1975 to 1995. In that capacity, he was also a Clinical Professor at UCLA. In 1995 he came to the Pennington Center, a research campus of the Louisiana State University System. He is the Medical Director and a Professor directing the Pennington outpatient research clinic.
Dr. Li Li – Professor Li has been the principal investigator of
an intervention study of peripheral neuropathy at LSU since the summer
of 2004. The project objectives are to identify interventions that can
help in managing the disease, to investigate what interventions are
more beneficial, and to help peripheral neuropathy patients manage
their symptoms. Dr. Li's long-term research goal is to incorporate the
knowledge gained through the study of different human activities into
models of the neuromuscular system. Dr Li is the author of over 35 peer
reviewed publications, as well as 88 conference proceedings and is on
the review board of 11 scientific journals. He is the recipient of over
$4.5 million dollars in research grants.
Dr. Yukihiko Hara – As the Scientific Head of Toyko Food Techno Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Mitsui Norin Co., Ltd, Dr. Hara provides his internationally recognized expertise on the medical benefits of green tea extracts. Dr. Hara is one of the recognized world experts in green tea and is an inventor in over 115 patents in this field.
Dr. Song Lee – As a faculty member of the Dalhousie University School of Dentistry, Dr. Lee and his inter-disciplinary team has worked actively to identify new compounds from natural sources with high potency. Dr. Lee also maintains an active collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which provides herbal opportunities to Origin.
Dr. Spencer Lee – As the Director of the Virology/Immunology Lab at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Center, Dr. Spencer Lee is a virology specialist and assists in the identification of active compounds from herbals. Dr. Lee supervises the laboratory testing of each batch of HerpeStat® to assure efficacy.
Dr. Bruce Frome – In the early 1990’s, Dr. Frome was the principal clinician for the National Pain Institute, California, which was the largest chronic pain organization in North America at that time. Dr. Frome is the principal clinician in developing the ingredients in Neuragen.
FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT TEAM
Tom Marks - Tom founded Martin Avenue Pharmacy, Naperville, Illinois, in 1973, now one of the most successful and well known compounding pharmacies in North America. Mr. Marks sits on the Board of Directors for the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists and the International Journal of Compounding Pharmacists.
Matt Buderer – Together with his father, Jim Buderer, Matt runs Buderer Drug Co. in Sandusky and Perrysburg, Ohio. Buderer Drug Co. is a successful general practice compounding pharmacy founded in 1978.
George Roentsch – George is a well known compounding pharmacist in Keene, New Hampshire with a specialty in topical formulations. Origin is pleased to have George on its team.
